“Silk quilt”, also known as “silk quilt”, refers to bedding with more than 50% mulberry silk (tussah silk) as filler. According to the different types of fillers, one hundred percent pure silk is called “pure silk quilt”. And below this standard, but above 50% is called “mixed type”. According to the different production and processing methods, it can be divided into “manual” (hand pulling cotton, hand peeling cotton) and “mechanism”. According to the different sources of raw materials, it can be divided into “mulberry silk” and “tussah silk”.
First, the production process
Manufacturing technology of mulberry silk quilt with handmade mulberry silk cotton as raw material;
- Cut the silk floss and pull it horizontally by four people. This method is a very common method to make mulberry silk quilt. First, cut off one side of the handmade mulberry silk floss with scissors, then each person pulls one side at different angles, and work together to pull the mulberry silk floss away and spread it on the bed board, and repeat the operation and superposition until all the needed ones are pulled out.
- Dig a hole in the middle of the silk floss and pull it horizontally by four people. This method is similar to the first one, except that the scissors are used instead of digging holes in the middle.
Processing technology of mulberry silk quilt with machine-made mulberry silk cotton as raw material; - Four people pull horizontally. The shape of machine-made mulberry silk floss itself is a large rectangle. Just pull it fluffy first, then pull it into the size of a quilt by four people, and then stack it layer by layer, which is much more convenient and faster than manual production.
2, two people pull flat. The general steps are similar to the four-person level pull, but it takes more time for two people to do things for four people.
The quality of mulberry silk quilt is very important. On the one hand, the raw materials of mulberry silk cotton are good or bad, and on the other hand, the processing technology is good or bad. The performance of mulberry silk quilt made by different people with the same raw materials will be different. Therefore, when choosing mulberry silk quilt, we must choose the raw materials and the production methods, so that the mulberry silk quilt made is the top grade.
Second, the benefits of mulberry silk
Mulberry silk is recognized as a light, soft and smooth environmental protection product in the world, and it is also the only animal long fiber in the world, and is known as the “queen of fiber”. At all times, silkworm silk has always been a symbol of status and status, and once belonged to the special products of royal family. In the west, silk is known as “soft gold”.
Due to the limitation of climate, region and ecological environment, the annual output of silk in the world is very low, accounting for about 1/20 of the output of wool with natural fibers, which is scarce and expensive. The high-grade mulberry silk quilt is not only because of its scarcity, but also because of its unique health care function:
1, improve sleep, conditioning function. Sericin of silk contains 18 kinds of amino acids, and the tiny molecules emitted by these amino acids are also called “sleep factors”, which can make people’s nerves in a relatively stable state. Covering with silk quilt can improve sleep, regulate human function and slow down aging. - It has good cold resistance and air permeability. Silk contains the highest “silk volume gap” in the fiber, which is a poor conductor of heat. It is not easy to conduct people’s body temperature in winter, so it has strong warmth retention. Coupled with good air permeability, it can eliminate excess heat in hot weather and feel cool in summer.
- It has sweat absorption and moisture removal performance. Silk protein outside silk contains a substance called “affinity side chain amino acid”, which can absorb sweat and eliminate it, keep it dry and comfortable, especially beneficial to rheumatism.
4, with anti-mite, antibacterial, anti-allergic and skin-friendly nature. Sericin component of silk can not only make people’s skin delicate and smooth, but also prevent mites and mold from breeding, which is more beneficial to people with allergies. - It has the functions of nourishing skin and beauty beauty. Mulberry silk belongs to protein fiber, which is the closest fiber to human skin, so it is called “the second skin”. It has the functions of nourishing skin, maintaining skin moisture balance, preventing skin aging, promoting blood circulation, helping skin metabolism and delaying aging.
6, natural and soft, loose and smooth. Mulberry silk quilt is recognized as a light, soft and smooth environmental protection product in the world, which is naturally close to the body and makes people sleep without oppression.
Third, the use and maintenance
method of application
1, when using, should according to the different seasons and the use of environmental differences, choose the appropriate weight of silk quilt. Silk quilt usually has three weights: summer cool quilt, spring and autumn quilt and winter quilt. Choosing the weight reasonably can get the best sleeping environment. - When using, it is suggested to add a quilt cover outside the silk tire cover to prevent the silk from being contaminated with dust and stains.
- We should develop a good sleeping posture and avoid pulling the silk quilt hard to keep the inner structure of the silk embryo in good order.
- Silk quilt should not be used in a humid environment for a long time, so as to avoid the qualitative change of silk sericin, which will affect the flexibility of silk and lead to hardening.
- It is not advisable to use the silk quilt as a mattress, or jump on the silk quilt to avoid damaging the canopy.
- If you don’t get water on the silk quilt (or wet the baby’s bed), you should take the silk to a well-ventilated place to dry in time.
Maintenance method - Storage method:
(1) Silkworm should be stored in a ventilated and dry place, and it should not be placed in a damp and sealed place, so as to prevent the silk from getting damp and producing peculiar smell.
(2) It should not be pressed by heavy objects for a long time during storage to keep the silk quilt loose; It is best to store it flat or hang it.
(3) The packaging bags for storing silk quilts should be loose but not tight, so as to avoid losing elasticity of silk quilts over time;
(4) Do not put moth balls and other chemicals in the silk quilt, so as not to destroy its natural antibacterial properties.
2, drying:
(1) In order to ensure the sanitary use of the silk quilt and good canopy looseness, please dry it in the well-ventilated sun, but don’t expose it in the hot sun for a long time, so as to protect the protein in the silk from being damaged, prolong the service life of the silk quilt and keep it soft and comfortable;
(2) When airing, gently pat the quilt with your hands to make the quilt fluffy, and the use effect will be better.
3, washing:
(1) Routine cleaning of silk quilt: only wash the outer quilt cover.
(2) Silk quilt covers should not be washed, dry-cleaned, chlorine-bleached, ironed, machine-washed, washed at high temperature, or rubbed vigorously.
(3) Once the tire cover is stained, it can be partially cleaned with a small amount of cold water and dried in a ventilated place, or it can be ironed slowly with an iron and padded cloth at low temperature, or it can be blown dry at low temperature, but it should not be exposed to heat sources for a long time. - Renovation
When the quilt is used for a long time and needs to be renovated, the needle and thread on the surface of the tire cover should be carefully cut off and the silk tire should be taken out. However, this operation should not be carried out hastily and should be completed by skilled personnel to avoid damaging the internal structure of the silk tire.
Here, the common problems of several links in the use of silk are introduced first.
First, the silk is used: the outside of the silk quilt core should be covered with a quilt cover before it can be used, otherwise the quilt core will be easily contaminated with dust and stains. Don’t press on the quilt when sleeping to keep the fluffy feeling of silk quilt. Children should prevent them from wetting the bed when using silk quilts, and at the same time avoid your children jumping around on the quilt.
Second, the silk is washed: if the quilt cover is dirty, it can be removed and washed with cold water. Silk quilt core can not be washed, dry-cleaned or ironed. If it is stained, it can be partially wiped with neutral detergent and dried in the sun. If the stain area is large, it is recommended to go to the dry cleaner to wipe it with special liquid medicine.
Third, the silk quilt is dried: the newly made silk quilt smells like silkworm chrysalis, and it can be blown in a ventilated place for two days. Silk quilt can’t be exposed to the sun for a long time, but it’s best to take it out for two hours every two weeks, otherwise it will be moldy after being wet. Pat lightly with your hands to keep fluffy after drying. - Silkworm is stored: Do not store it in a humid and sultry environment or put it in a plastic bag to prevent it from getting damp, which will cause odor and lose its warmth and breathability. Avoid heavy pressure, and don’t stack heavy objects on the quilt to avoid thinning and hardening. Do not use chemical drugs such as mothballs to avoid polluting silk.
Five, the silk is wrinkle-free: Because the inner fabrics of silk quilts and silk pillows are mostly cotton, it is easy to wrinkle, and the fabrics will become very uneven due to the extrusion of packaging and transportation during online shopping. You can hang it up and blow it with a hair dryer, and the all-cotton fabric can quickly return to flatness.
Some people may say that silk quilts can’t be dried in the shade. In fact, we all know that silk quilts are taken to the balcony to dry at regular intervals, which has many benefits. Although silk does deteriorate after being exposed to the sun for a long time, ordinary silk quilts are covered with a core, with a liner and a quilt cover, and no one will dig it out to dry. If you don’t bask in the sun for a long time and it may be stuffy when you store it, it will eventually lead to mildew and odor in the cotton liner or quilt cover, which will not pay off. Silk quilts can be dried once every two weeks, preferably for two hours each time, and both sides should be dried, because the frequency of drying is not high, so it will not affect silk. Remember to pat the silk quilt gently after each drying to keep it fluffy and warm, which will prolong the service life of the silk quilt.
Finally, we should also remember that mulberry silk can’t be sealed. To maintain its air permeability, we need to inflate some things, but silk can’t be like this. Just leave it there and ignore it.
